🎧 How is BRUBEG reshaping banking supervision? In this episode, Renate Prinz explains why ESG risks, M&A transactions and capital planning are becoming increasingly important under the new supervisory framework. – Tune in now!
ESG becomes part of prudential risk management
In the final episode of the BRUBEG series, Dana Wondra from Payment & Banking speaks with Renate Prinz, Partner at Annerton, about the growing importance of ESG risks within banking supervision.
Rather than being limited to sustainability reporting, ESG is now becoming an integral part of banks’ risk management frameworks. Institutions will increasingly be expected to assess climate-related, regulatory and reputational risks and incorporate them into lending and investment decisions.
Greater scrutiny of M&A transactions
BRUBEG also expands supervisory oversight of acquisitions and investments. Certain asset deals and acquisitions involving non-regulated entities may now require prior supervisory assessment.
This means banks should plan transactions earlier, anticipate additional notification requirements and allow sufficient time for regulatory approvals.
Capital planning and governance become more closely linked
The episode also explores how capital planning is becoming more closely integrated with governance and supervisory expectations.
Renate Prinz explains why banks should no longer view ESG, governance, transactions and capital planning separately, but instead develop integrated processes capable of identifying risks at an early stage.
