Neues Buch: Das Recht der digitalen Zahlungsdienstleistungen

Our PayTechLaw Blog Now Has a Printed Sibling!

With the title “PayTechLaw – The Law of Digital Payment Services”, a new handbook has been published by C.H. BECK. It is dedicated entirely to the regulatory and civil law framework of digital payments.

The editors: Prof. Dr. Carsten Herresthal, LL.M., and Annerton partners Dr. Matthäus Schindele and Frank Müller, LL.M. – all recognized experts in payment services and financial regulatory law. They were supported by a top-class team of authors – including many familiar names from the Annerton environment and beyond.

From Blog to Book

The market for digital payment methods is one of the most dynamic areas of the financial sector. New technologies, business models, and players are constantly emerging – from traditional card payments and mobile payment systems to stablecoins, tokenization, and the digital euro.

At the same time, the demands on regulation, compliance, and contract design are increasing. National and European legal frameworks – from the German ZAG to PSD2 – are closely intertwined, while technological developments continue at a rapid pace.
In short: It’s complex – and that’s exactly why clear guidance is needed.

This is where the new handbook comes in: It not only analyses the current legal framework but also explains how regulatory requirements affect specific payment methods and business models.

A Work from Practice – for Practice

🟦 Dr. Matthäus Schindele: “This handbook combines academic depth with strong practical relevance. It is the first work to systematically and comprehensively address both the regulatory framework and concrete payment methods – written by people who deal with these issues every day.”

🟦 Frank Müller, LL.M.: “Digital payment methods are already a part of our everyday lives – whether at the supermarket checkout or in online checkouts. Technology is advancing rapidly, and the legal framework is evolving alongside it. That’s exactly where our handbook comes in.”
