The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) was developed by the PCI SSC with the aim to reduce fraudulent credit card payments online. All companies processing cardholder data, i.e. acceptance points/merchants, acquirers, issuers, as well as all intermediate processors, have to comply with the PCI DSS.
