Pursuant to Section 1 para. 1 sentence 1 of the German Banking Act (KWG), credit institutions are companies that conduct banking business commercially or to an extent that requires a commercially established business operation.
Section 1 para. 1 sentence 2 KWG provides a conclusive list of all forms of banking business (lending business, custody business, underwriting, etc.).
