MiFID (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive)

The term “MiFiD” is the acronym used in the market for the English term Markets in Financial Instruments Directive. The acronym is commonly used as an unofficial term in connection with the financial market directives (Directive 2004/39/EC (MiFiD I) and Directive 2014/65/EU (MiFID II)). Both directives are directives of the European Union (EU) on markets in financial instruments for the harmonisation of financial markets in the European internal market. MiFID is an essential point in the European Commission’s Financial Services Action Plan (FSAP).
